USB Isn’t Just Memory Anymore

The year 2007 was a great year for technological advances. One very influential advance was in the realm of USB devices. When you hear the term “USB” most people think of a USB flash drive: a mass storage device that hooks up to a computer through the USB hookup. However, the flash drive is only one of many inventions that have come from the USB boom.

Everyone knows about the flash drive and most know about keyboards and computer mouses that attach to the computer through USB, but the USB gadget category is making the ranks when it comes to common desk accessories. Now you can turn your desk into anything from a pseudo kitchen with a fondue set, mini Foreman iGrill and a refrigerator or to a cubical fort with laser guided missile launchers and rocket launchers or even a recording studio with a turntable, drum set, electric guitar and even a cassette deck all connected through the USB ports!

In a mini celebration of the advancements in the USB world, we are offering several deals this month! If you’re on the go for work or school and you need a pen as well as a USB drive, try one of our combo pens. These little devices are great weighted pens with a 512 MB USB drive! Just unscrew the back and plug it into your computer. Don’t you hate the constant dust and crumbs that seem to get all over your desk and in your keyboard? With our USB vacuum, keep it at your desk and clean up whenever you see the need.

Are you still not sure what to get a certain person for their birthday or as a thank you gift? How about a personalized USB flash drive? With so many colors and capacities to choose from, they are perfect for anyone!

The variety of useful (and some useless) gadgets that are available to us has really exploded this past year. Hold on to your hats to see what happens to USB this coming year!

    Zonet 4-Port USB 2.0 Slim Hub (ZUH2214L)
    Part Number: 91834
    Your Price: $19.99
I need to know if this can be installed on my Dell Dimension 4500S.
If not, how can I get high speed USB ports? I have 1.0 now.
I don’t have a clue how it works.

Hi Gary. That product should work just fine with your Dell Dimension 4500S. That particular hub is backwards compatible with USB 1.1, so you won’t have to worry about trying to install USB 2.0 ports. Yes, the transfer speed will be somewhat slower if you’re using drives, but for things like mice, printers, etc., this will work just fine.
